A Note From the couple
Jennifer Arens & Shannon Hughes Just Married!
These organizations hold a special place in our hearts! The people of Over-the-Rhine have enriched and challenged Shannon from high school through college. As these people and their movement worked to take care of each other and build a better city. Her years working with Over-the-Rhine Community Housing deepened not only her love, but also her understanding, of the community and the injustices its people have challenged.
Called back after years in D.C., Shannon brought Jenn to Cincinnati and introduced her to this movement. For the last 5 years, Jenn’s job with Peaslee Neighborhood Center has schooled her in the ways of deep community wisdom, and added fuel to her fire for change.
We consider these 3 organizations the lifeblood to the Over-the-Rhine community. Through creating and maintaining affordable housing, educating for social justice, organizing tenants, advocating for policy change, and amplifying resident voices, they give us hope not only for Cincinnati, but for all the communities we love.
