A Note From the couple

Sherry Whiteley & Philippe Canabou

Sherry’s Mother, Alice Morris Whiteley, was born on February 28, 1911. She loved being a Mother to her children: John, Robert, Scott and Sherry. She always said that “Motherhood was her greatest joy in life and her greatest legacy.”
Later in life she developed Alzheimer’s Disease which she battled with grace for over 10 years, until February 12, 1998. Sherry was on the Board of the Alzheimer’s Association for Northern California and Nevada for 8 years in Alice’s honor. This Charity is very close to Sherry’s heart.
Sherry’s Father, Robert H. Whiteley, Sr., (aka Lt. Commander Whiteley), was born on December 29, 1914. For 33 years he worked at Camp Pendleton Naval Hospital, in Oceanside, California, where he worked with devotion and heart to help returning service men and women with physical injuries and PTSD to restore their lives. It is somehow fitting that a man who possessed so much empathy and compassion for those in pain would have his heart finally go out on Father’s Day 1995. A donation to the American Heart Association is in remembrance of him.
Philippe’s beloved Uncle, Dr. Jean-Pierre Canabou, was born on July 10, 1946 in Beziers, France. He moved to the United States at the age of 10 and grew up in Northern California. JP was a family physician for over 30 years in Modesto, California, dedicated to high-quality, compassionate care for all of his patients – from small children to seniors. He passed away in 2018, after a very brave, year-long battle with cancer. He is gone, but not forgotten and a donation to the Cancer Research Institute is in loving memory of him.
