From the Owner: The idea of Hope Haven was born in 2008 while I was driving to Pittsburgh from my hometown in Vermont. I was thinking about my career as a veterinary surgeon and how I loved performing spay/neuter to help stop the pet overpopulation problem.
But recently I was feeling upset by the number of unwanted ducks, pigs, and roosters being surrendered at the shelter where I worked. Most of these farm animals could not be properly housed in the stainless steel cat cages or long dog runs so I had been taking many of them home to care for myself.
Rehabilitating a tiny pot-bellied piglet named Isaac opened my eyes to the exuberant love-of-life farm animals feel. Isaac would romp and jump like a puppy, seek me out for companionship, and give me looks that were so expressive I always knew what he was “saying”. I shuddered at the thought of what would have happened to Isaac if he had gone to auction or to a worse fate.
So during that long drive through New England I asked myself this life-altering question, “What would I do with my life if I KNEW I couldn’t fail?”
That question opened my eyes to my life’s purpose! I would start a farm animal sanctuary and raise public awareness to the plight of thousands of voiceless animals.

After more than 4 long years of searching, I purchased an overgrown and neglected 6 acre property in June of 2011. It was a diamond-in-the-rough; its potential made my heart sing! The land was close enough to the Pittsburgh to welcome city visitors, but also had the perfect mix of pasture land and woods to keep many needy animals happy and safe. A beautiful bank barn was built to home to larger animals and a big abandoned shed was renovated into a cozy condo for pigs. Over the years other improvements have been added. A large outbuilding has been altered into a sturdy and expansive poultry house. A pond was created explicitly for the pleasure of ducks, geese, and even swans! There is a beautiful walking trail on the property, as well as environmental updates such as rain water barrels, a veggie garden, a small fruit orchid, and compost units.

To save the hungry, the helpless, the lost, and the little ones just struggling to survive;
to house and feed as many animals as possible;
to ease the suffering of the weak and unloved.
We at City of Elderly Love believe that every animal is an individual regardless of species, breed type, size, gender and age. City of Elderly Love aims to help as many senior pets as possible spend the best years of their lives in loving homes rather than their story end in a crowded shelter.
The Guardian Angels philosophy is built around being positive. We use positive reinforcement training techniques exclusively while training our dogs. We positively commit ourselves to our recipients and train each dog to the exacting needs of each recipient. If we match a dog with a recipient, and for whatever reason the match isn’t right – we will fix it. Our only goal is to ensure that our recipients are thriving with their service dogs.
Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary is a Forever Foster Home based Sanctuary in beautiful Mount Juliet, Tennessee, generally housing approximately 120 senior dogs at the Sanctuary and others in temporary and Forever Foster Homes. While providing lifetime homes for senior dogs, OFSDS strives to raise awareness of the joys and challenges of living with older dogs. We are a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization. We do not concern ourselves with the quantity of time that they have left, rather the quality of the life that we can provide them for that time.
Based in Douglas County Georgia, PPCR is a fully volunteer, 501(c)3 nonprofit that rescues unwanted and abandoned cats and kittens from local animal shelters, the majority of them from “Death Row.”
WE ARE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THAT IN 2023, PPCR ADOPTED OUT 611 CATS & KITTENS, including many high risk, special needs and medical emergencies! Since 2015, we have found homes for over 5,800 kitties with the help of PetSmart Charities!
All 4 Paws Rescue is a non-profit, foster-based, all-breed, no-kill animal rescue based in Malvern, PA that offers rescue, rehabilitation, and sanctuary to animals in need. Our goal is to offer each and every one of these animals a safe, permanent and loving home. All 4 Paws Rescue was founded in May, 2009. Since inception, All 4 Paws Rescue has saved over 15,000 needy animals and continues to grow and save lives daily. For most of the animals rescued by All 4 Paws, we are their last chance. Many reside in shelters that are not even open to the public but are instead holding facilities where the animals go to die. Many come from commercial breeding facilities that throw them away like trash when they are no longer useful for breeding purposes or not fit for sale. Puppies, purebreds, family pets – these are animals you would never expect to end up in these horrible situations but it is a sad reality. Through our extensive rescue network, All 4 Paws has developed relationships nationwide that allow us to save countless lives that would otherwise have been ended.
As a foster based rescue, our animals live in homes with our families and our personal pets so we are able to learn a great deal about them and work on preparing them for their forever home. There is no greater feeling than releasing these wonderful animals into a safe yard and watching them run and play as they should. They sleep curled up in soft beds in our homes when hours before they laid on concrete floors. They feel grass beneath their feet when many have never experienced the outdoors. Having never known freedom or a full belly, they are so very thankful. This is why we at All 4 Paws Rescue do what we do – because they all deserve a home.
One Tail at a Time (OTAT) started as a backup plan for dogs that were not getting adopted or rescued by other groups in the area shelters. Over the years we have experienced consistent and steady growth: we are among the top transfer partners for dogs at Chicago Animal Care and Control (CACC) and for cats at several open intake shelters in Indiana, we have a robust transport program in which dogs are rescued from high-kill shelters in southern states, and we are even able to pull dogs from a rescue partner in Tulum, Mexico to help them get adopted in the Chicagoland area. Our growth has been, and continues to be, due to the overwhelming support received from our community. Members enable us to take on complex medical cases and continue to grow our annual intake numbers. Volunteers have continued to line up to foster and care for dogs, cats, rabbits, and guinea pigs, to take on leadership roles, and to help build One Tail at a Time into a well-known and respected rescue organization in Chicago and beyond.
