Safe Haven Dog Rescue was created by volunteers to rescue, rehabilitate, and find loving families for homeless dogs and puppies. Most of our dogs and puppies are rescued from rural southern pounds and shelters where they have little chance of a better life without being rescued.
We are all foster-based, meaning we do not have a “shelter” and we rely on the generosity of the community to open their homes and foster these deserving dogs and puppies.
While we don’t always know their past, we are certain that we will make their future much brighter.

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals® (ASPCA®) was the first humane society to be established in North America and is, today, one of the largest in the world.
Our organization was founded on the belief that animals are entitled to kind and respectful treatment at the hands of humans and must be protected under the law. Headquartered in New York City, the ASPCA maintains a strong local presence, and with programs that extend our anti-cruelty mission across the country, we are recognized as a national animal welfare organization. We are a privately funded 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, and are proud to boast more than 2 million supporters across the country.
The ASPCA’s mission, as stated by founder Henry Bergh in 1866, is “to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States.”
Cassandra and Shane Cozzolino both were born into rescue. Shane’s mother is a lifelong Horse trainer and rescuer from the San Francisco Bay Area. Cassandra comes from a long line of animal lovers who always tried to help any animal in need that came across their path. So when these two met in 2008 its only natural that their love for rescuing truly blossomed! They started off helping animals they found or heard needed help in the central coast of California. When they decided to relocate to Mexico in 2017 they found an overwhelming amount of animals needing help. The rescued expanded from 1-5 animals in the begining to over 50 in our care by 2018. Cassandra realized she wanted to make the leap so in 2020 she gave up her full time job and immersed herself in the rescue full time. It quickly grew to over 100 animals in our care! In the Fall of 2020 Cassandra’s parents, Bob and Denise, came on full time as well! Finally Shane took the plunge in the Spring of 2021 and joined the crew full time! We now house and care for over 100 animals at any given time! Working together as a family is nothing new to us. Cassandra and her parents owned an automotive repair shop together for many years. But Bob suffered many health issues as he got older and could no longer work the demanding schedule needed to run the shop. So he and Denise retired, or so they thought. When they first had the opportunity to foster for the rescue they found the perfect thing to add enjoyment to their retirement! Their involvement grew daily and before they knew it they were taking the plunge to becoming fully involved in the rescue! While working with family can present its own challenges we have found that we all bring a unique perspective and skill set. So we refine, encourage, support, and correct each other to be our best versions of ourselves and in turn give every animal here our best!
TEARS Inc. is a volunteer-driven, 501(c)3 non-profit organization, founded to support abused, abandoned and relinquished animals within Seminole County Animal Services (SCAS). Our mission is to work in unison with SCAS to improve both shelter living conditions and quality of life for these homeless animals. Unlike private shelters, SCAS must take in every animal brought to them and provide it with food and basic medicine, regardless of whether or not they have the space or adequate staffing to care for them. If a dog or cat comes into the shelter needing medical attention, either it’s put up for adoption in hopes that someone adopts it and gets it the medical help it needs, or it’s euthanized. The shelter is also not permitted to raise additional funds in order to support its efforts which means the support TEARS offers is critical to the animals that come in needing medical care.
Seminole County Animal Services was established in the early 1970’s to have local ordinances to prevent domestic animal nuisances and to have a safe place to take stray and homeless pets. Today not only do we enforce ordinances, we provide such services as rabies vaccinations and microchipping as well. We ask that you “Adopt- Don’t Shop” and come to the shelter and adopt your next family pet. We also have plenty of volunteer and foster home opportunities if you would like to help the homeless pets in our community. As our mission statement says “We strive to preserve the lives of all animals”.
The Rescue Our Furry Friends organization was established in 2004 by Diane Adair and Cindy McClellan. ROFF has placed over 450 dogs, over 250 cats and 23 birds thus far.
ROFF does not have a facility and therefore relies on the generosity and kindness of our local families whom are willing to foster dogs and cats until their forever homes are found.
As of June 2008, our organization was granted a non-profit status. All donations to ROFF are now tax deductible.
All dogs are vaccinated for rabies, distemper and kennel cough. They are de-wormed and started on Vectra. If the dogs are over 6 months of age, they are spayed and neutered before they can be adopted. We begin the dogs on housebreaking and crate training as soon as they enter the rescue.
All cats are tested for feline leukemia and feline AIDS. They are also de-wormed and started on Vectra. If the cats are over 6 months of age, they are spayed and neutered before they can be adopted. We begin litter training as soon as they enter the rescue.
Rescue Our Furry Friends requires an application to be completed if anyone is interested in one of our animals. Their is no adoption fee. There is an adoption contract that needs to be signed prior to any adoption. The animals we adopt out must be kept as inside animals.

We began as a small volunteer-led TNR and rescue group. But after rescuing hundreds of friendly strays and kittens who all needed medical care…and after helping our neighbors TNR hundreds of feral cats on the same blocks…
We noticed that new cats still kept showing up, year after year. There’s a bigger problem here.

Henry County Humane Society – Geneseo is a No-Kill Animal Shelter. Our Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit agency located in Geneseo, Illinois, and is operated on donations from the public. All donations go directly to help with care of our animals while we look for a permanent home for them. Operations are overseen by our shelter manager. We also have three part time employees that have the responsibility of keeping the shelter clean. The rest of the shelter work and fundraising is done totally by our volunteer organization. We are a growing group of caring volunteers.
