Some background information on the charities we selected:
Reach Out and Read is a charity that provides books to children at well-child visits. Elizabeth’s mom has been closely involved with this charity throughout her career as a pediatrician, and Elizabeth grew up volunteering with this charity at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. Literacy and love of books is incredibly important to both Dan and Elizabeth.
Maya La Nueva Generación is a foundation formed in part by Dan’s cousin Molly Hemstreet alongside the other board members of Opportunity Threads. They are currently able to sponsor students but hope to expand their support to include infrastructure, basic needs, and health kits. Elizabeth and Dan both value education and feel that supporting communities in these ways enables them to grow and enrich our world.
