Miranda chose Best Friends Animal Society. This has been an organization she has followed for over a decade now. They rescue animals – all types, big & small – and pride themselves on being a no-kill shelter. They believe that every animal deserves a shot at love. Based in Kanab, Utah, their sanctuary is next to their famous pet hotel. You can spend the night with an animal you are looking to adopt to see how the night goes (this has been Miranda’s dream hotel for years). Fun fact! They rescued Michael Vick’s fighting dogs and worked with the dogs so that the majority went to loving homes. Some even became therapy & service dogs! Miranda loves its mission and belief that every animal is worthy of love.
Miranda & John chose Friends of the Boundary Waters together. The Boundary Water Canoe Area consists of hundreds of lakes connected by portages and is a popular spot in summer for portaging, hiking, fishing, etc. Located on the border of Minnesota & Canada, the BWCA is a special place for John & Miranda. They vacationed there in the summer of 2022. Miranda was even convinced that John would be proposing there under the Northern Lights. Although that didn’t happen, they agreed that they would bring their children to appreciate being out in nature. This organization aims to protect the Boundary Waters & Quetico ecosystems from toxic sulfide mining.
