Catholic Charities Dallas

CCD was formally established in 1941 and incorporated from the Catholic Diocese of Dallas in 1997. Annually, CCD helps over 150,000 individuals achieve stability and self-sufficiency through financial literacy, employment services, education, food programs, immigration legal services, refugee resettlement, disaster services, and permanent supportive housing.

CCD is comprised of more than 30 individual programs serving the nine counties in North Texas that make up the Diocese of Dallas. Each individual program has a particular strength and service area that represents the diversity of the populations we serve, yet our efforts to restore dignity to our community members in need remain the same regardless of what program serves them.

From homelessness to hunger, from victims of abuse to refugees of war and oppression, from the hurting to the lost, we partner with our clients to serve them during their greatest time of need and continue to walk with them on their journey to self-sufficiency.

Hope Clinic of McKinney

Hope Clinic of McKinney is a faith-based non-profit where we look to share the love of Christ by providing hope and healing for the whole person. Our vision is to become the full time medical home for over 1,000 uninsured residents in our county. We strive to create a space where everyone is treated with dignity, respect and love while delivering high quality medical, wellness and spiritual care.

Hope Clinic of McKinney saw its first patient in 2017, the fulfillment of a plan that began in 2014 with the recognition of the unmet need for quality care for the uninsured in our community. 12% of McKinney residents are without medical insurance. In East McKinney where Hope Clinic is located, the need is even higher. In June 2016, a team of volunteers and partners formed to bring our mission of Hope and Healing in McKinney to life. Hope Clinic of Garland, a well-established charitable clinic in Dallas County, welcomed the team into their facility and provided much-needed encouragement and knowledge. We partnered with the Baptist Immigration Center, who generously offered to donate the use of their building to Hope Clinic to use when they were closed. And Empowering Community Health Outreach donated their consulting services to provide vital direction and infrastructure to clinic planning.

Through the hard work of its volunteers, and with the support of the community, Hope Clinic began operations one day a week at the Baptist Immigration Center in July 2017 to provide medical services regardless of a patient’s ability to pay. By 2018, clinic operations expanded to 2 days. And in September 2019, Hope Clinic relocated to our current location which is a dedicated permanent clinic space on E. Lamar. Our new home allows for increased operating hours and more patients. Our vision is to expand operations over the next few years to be able to see medical and counseling patients 5 days a week.

Over 100 volunteers from all across the community have worked together to serve our uninsured neighbors at the Hope Clinic of McKinney. And we have grown to serve hundreds of patients and provide thousands of appointments to patients who otherwise would have gone without care or gone to an emergency room for basic medical care.

We need people like you to serve those who need it most.

The Brigid Alliance

For many Americans, the costs and logistical challenges of getting to an abortion provider are primary barriers to access, and it’s only getting harder. We book, coordinate and pay for travel, travel expenses, and child care, serving as a single, trusted point of contact for every step of the journey. Wherever someone needs to get to abortion care in the U.S., we find a way to get them there – through direct support and in collaboration with our network of partners.

Because International

Our Founding Story
In 2007, our founder Kenton Lee traveled to Nairobi, Kenya after graduating college. He lived and worked at a small orphanage with some incredible kids. One day, he was walking down a dusty road with all the kids when he noticed a little girl in a white dress walking next to him. As he looked down at her feet, he was shocked to see how small her shoes were. They were so small that she had to cut open the front of her shoes to let her toes stick out. That was the day that Kenton thought:

What if there was a shoe that could adjust and expand its size?
What if there was a shoe that could grow?

And the idea for The Shoe That Grows™ was born.

It took Kenton and a group of friends back in their hometown in Idaho more than six years to take this idea and turn it into a reality. But they finally did it; they made The Shoe That Grows—a shoe that grows five sizes and lasts for years.

They started the nonprofit organization Because International™ to serve as the structure to get The Shoe That Grows to as many kids as possible who are in desperate need of footwear to protect their feet. This was always meant to be a small hobby for Kenton and his friends. It was something they were passionate about, but they never dreamed it would be the worldwide cause and movement that it is today.

Ninth Life Rescue Center

Based in Greensburg, and serving the Westmoreland, Fayette and Allegheny county region, Ninth Life Rescue Center is a no-kill, all volunteer, foster-based rescue. We are currently fundraising to move into a brick and mortar location to save even more lives! Known for medical cases, we take in a lot of badly injured and extremely sick cats, kittens and dogs. We are fortunate to work very closely with our vet, All Pets Hospital, to save as many lives as we possibly can. We support our community by only taking in local animals, by hosting neuter clinics, providing TNR (Trap-Neuter-Release) to help reduce the feral stray population, and adopting out our fully vetted animals.

Her Justice

er Justice stands with women living in poverty in New York City by recruiting and mentoring volunteer lawyers to provide free legal help to address individual and systemic legal barriers.
Through our pro bono first model, we pair thousands of well-trained and resourced, pro bono attorneys with women who have legal needs in the areas of family, matrimonial and immigration law. When we do that, we begin to break down systemic barriers that are built into our civil justice system, barriers that reinforce and exacerbate gender, racial and economic imbalances.
