While at Oregon Dog Rescue, the pups spend their days in playrooms, where they can socialize with each other and interact with Staff and Volunteers. The dogs are spayed or neutered as soon as they arrive, brought up-to-date on their vaccinations, microchipped as well as de-wormed and flea treated. Staff members evaluate our residents to see what type of family would be best for each one. We are devoted to placing our dogs with the best matches for them and assuring the long-term success of each adoption. Our staff is available for follow-up care and for the lifetime of the pet.
Since our first adoption, we have helped over 12,700 pups find their forever homes.
Before the pandemic, one in five neighbors was at risk of hunger. Now, we know the need is even greater. We address hunger head-on – from our food pantry network and home-delivered groceries to CalFresh (food stamp) enrollment. Every week, over 53,000 households count on us for food assistance. 60% of what we distribute to them is fresh fruit and vegetables.
At Compass Family Services, we’re passionate about helping homeless and at-risk families become stably housed, emotionally and physically healthy, and economically self-sufficient. Compass was founded in 1914 as Travelers’ Aid San Francisco to provide assistance to the 18.5 million newcomers who visited the city of San Francisco for the 1915 World’s Fair. Since then, our history has followed the trajectory of San Francisco’s history, serving the most vulnerable populations during the Great Depression, World War II, immigrants and refugees from Asia in the 1950’s, and homeless youth during and after the Summer of Love.
Today, while helping families secure long-term housing, Compass Family Services provides the most comprehensive range of support services designed specifically for those in distress.
We believe every young person deserves the opportunity to build a great future for themselves, by achieving success in school, developing a strong character, and living a healthy lifestyle.
We are the hospital’s champions. Established in 1995, the Foundation for Morristown Medical Center is a nonprofit, public foundation. Our mission? To inspire community philanthropy to advance exceptional health care for patients at Morristown Medical Center and Goryeb Children’s Hospital. Our objective is to use philanthropy to preserve and expand programs and services in patient care, clinical research, medical and public health education, and preventive medicine.
Once patient bills are paid and reimbursements received, our not-for-profit hospitals depend on philanthropy to fund infrastructure improvements, emerging technologies and the medical expertise needed to meet the demand for their services. And that demand is growing rapidly. Morristown Medical Center and Goryeb Children’s Hospital have become destinations for care throughout the region. We help to ensure that all of those patients get the care they deserve, the kind of care we want for our own families.
Founded in 1995 as the inspiration and vision of former Prineville residents Gladys Logsdon and Donna Whitcomb. The Humane Society of the Ochocos has come a long way since then and and we have many of you to thank for that! The current shelter was constructed in 1996 as a temporary facility when the local population was just 17,000…it is now over 25,000 which represents a 47% increase! The needs of the County have outgrown the current shelter’s capacity.
In 2006, HSO paved the way and became the first animal shelter in Central Oregon to adopt the no kill philosophy.
