Our approach to hunger is what makes us unique as an organization. From the beginning, we’ve been committed to addressing both sides of the problem – small farmers struggling to stay in business, and disadvantaged populations who lack access to fresh and nutritious food.
Each of our programs is designed to benefit those on both sides. You can help get local food to those who need it, while also supporting the farmers producing it.
North Carolina Coastal Federation: Working together for a healthy coast.

The North Carolina Coastal Federation works to protect and restore coastal water quality and habitats throughout the North Carolina coast by collaborating with and engaging people from all walks of life who are committed to preserving the coast for current and future generations.
We believe in providing opportunities for others to step outside their comfort zone and explore new communities, cultures, and cuisines in an effort to gain a greater understanding of the world.
We believe in encouraging others to fully immerse themselves in new experiences, continuously soaking up new knowledge and expanding their network.
Established in 1991, the National Civil Rights Museum is located at the former Lorraine Motel, where civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated on April 4, 1968. Through interactive exhibits, historic collections, dynamic speakers and special events, the museum offers visitors a chance to walk through history and learn more about a tumultuous and inspiring period of change.
To accommodate public demand for further educational opportunities, the museum underwent a $27.5 million renovation in 2013 and 2014, adding more than 40 new films, oral histories and interactive media to the already robust galleries. The result is a one-of-a-kind experience that has been featured on the History Channel and CNN, in USA Today and as the focus for the Academy Award-nominated documentary The Witness: From the Balcony of Room 306.

The Sontag Foundation developed a network of relationships with healthcare providers throughout the United States who specialize in brain tumor treatment. This cadre of experts serves as the foundation of the Brain Tumor Network. Our network continues to develop as the field continues to grow. Neuro-oncology nurses and social workers tap into these ever-expanding connections to provide personalized information and navigation at no cost to individuals with brain tumors or their caregivers.
At our core, the Bulletin is a media organization, publishing a free-access website and a bimonthly magazine. But we are much more. The Bulletin’s website, iconic Doomsday Clock, and regular events help advance actionable ideas at a time when technology is outpacing our ability to control it. The Bulletin focuses on three main areas: nuclear risk, climate change, and disruptive technologies. What connects these topics is a driving belief that because humans created them, we can control them.
