This Bridal Party Carried Rescue Pups Instead of Bouquets

Recently, a conscious, and puppy-loving, Pennsylvania couple had their bridal party carry rescue pups instead of bouquets! Not only did these adorable rescue pups make for stunning bridal portraits, we love how this couple used their wedding day for good! While a bouquet of fresh blooms and greenery is always a wonderful idea, we can’t help but smile at these perfectly soft and wrinkly pups.

The couple’s day was beautifully captured by Caroline Logan Photography and she kindly shared some details with us about this puppy-filled wedding! Enjoy!

“When the bride, Sarah, first came to me with this idea I was thrilled! Because she is so involved with rescue pup work and has a huge passion for animal rescue in general, she was excited to include this huge piece of her heart in her wedding day and encourage others to #adoptnotshop. I immediately loved the idea and couldn’t wait for their wedding day!

The puppies were just included in the photos because it was a hot summer day and Sarah and Matt really wanted to focus on their vows and the marriage commitment they were making once ceremony time arrived.

While photographing six rambunctious puppies definitely brought an added challenge, it also caused the bridal party to be more at ease. Having something to divert attention from that uncomfortable, “Oh my goodness, I’m getting my picture taken… what do I do with my hands?!” feeling to pure puppy bliss made for more relaxed photos where the bridal party was able to focus on interacting with the fun-loving puppies as I documented it all unfolding.

And of course, the bridal party loved it! From the minute the puppies came bounding around the corner exploring their new surroundings, the bridesmaids were gushing about how cute they were. It was a dream for everyone!

The litter of Boxer-Coonhound puppies are sisters, all named after the original five First Ladies: Martha, Abigail, Dolley, Elizabeth, and Louisa. The Pitbull the bride is holding is a nine week old rescue pup from the streets of Brooklyn, lovingly referred to as “Biggie Smalls.”

The sisters are an eight week old litter of rescue pups from Pitties Love Peace, a non-profit 501c3 organization dedicated to rescue and rehabilitation in Central Pennsylvania, where the bride Sarah works. Sarah has served on the Board of Directors as the secretary and primary dog trainer since 2011, when it was founded.

Thankfully there was no puppy drama, no accidents, and no dresses harmed in the making of the photos! In fact, the puppies caused the photos to be extra natural, candid, and carefree – exactly what I strive for in my work! The wedding party was loving all the puppy snuggles.”

Thanks Caroline!
