The community is shaped by six villages of one and two bedroom apartments, a community center, swimming pools, and more.
Sanctuary Palm Springs was founded in 2014 to address the needs of transition-aged LGBTQ+ youth in the foster care system. A fully licensed Transitional Housing Placement Program-Non Minor Dependent (THPP-NMD) provider for youth ages 18-21 in extended foster care, we began welcoming residents in 2017. Our mission is to provide safe, comfortable, supervised housing for self-identified LGBTQ+ youth transitioning out of foster care to help them reach their goals of independence, self-sufficiency, housing permanence, and community connections.
Human activities are harming manatees, and only our compassion and action can protect them.
Manatees are Florida’s official state marine mammal. They are listed as vulnerable at the international level by the IUCN World Conservation Union. They are listed as threatened at the federal level by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and at the state level by the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). Their listing status is largely due to human activity. Since record-keeping began in 1974, more than 41% of manatee deaths where cause of death was identified were human-related – and almost 34% were due to watercraft collisions (the largest known cause of manatee deaths). With increased awareness, education, regulations, and enforcement, manatee deaths caused by humans could be substantially reduced, and the eventual recovery of the species could be realized.
Among the first side-effects a child may experience after being diagnosed with cancer is isolation. From their friends. Their classmates. Their schools.
Using the technology of tablet computers, web cameras and high-speed Internet connections, Hopecam connects these children helping to overcome their social isolation. We provide equipment, IT support and work with the school to secure and facilitate their participation.
Misplaced Mutts is a 501(c)3 non-profit, volunteer-based organization, dedicated to rescuing dogs in shelters, and less than ideal home situations, throughout North Carolina. We are based out of Carteret County, North Carolina, and operate through a network of foster homes. We rescue dogs who are suffering on the streets and in shelters. We created Misplaced Mutts to help animals who suffer and die every year because of negligence and abuse.
with funds raised through grassroots support, we have sponsored 60 families to a week of rest and renewal at the beach
On average, we have a waiting list of 5-10 beach trip recipients waiting for their trip to be funded.
Each beach trip costs an average of $4,000. Waves of Grace covers the cost of everything from travel to medical equipment rental to meals and entertainment.
Our desire is for the trip to be FULLY expense-free. The more funds we raise, the more recipients we are able to gift a trip to. We hope you will join us in our effort!
Founded in 1992, Austin Parks Foundation (APF) is dedicated to partnering with our community to enhance people’s lives by making our public parks, trails and green spaces better through volunteerism, innovative programming, advocacy and financial support.
With a focus on creating equitable access to great parks for all Austinites, APF is helping fill the City’s parks funding and resource gap. Funding initiatives like APF’s community-initiated grants have distributed over $3 million since 2006, and the annual flagship volunteer event, It’s My Park Day, results in an average of $650,000 in volunteer labor each year. APF also fosters unique public/private partnerships like the Zilker Train, empowers neighbors all over the city to create a parks system that serves their needs, and is a presenting partner and beneficiary of the popular Austin City Limits Music Festival at Zilker Metropolitan Park
